Please take a look at our current hours of operation

How much does it cost to come paint?

Cafe' Kiln is all inclusiveThis means you will pay one price & for everyone. This cost includes pottery, paint, glazing, firing, tools and instruction.

How do I book a party?

Call Café Kiln at (727) 787-5100 to make your reservation over the phone, email us or feel free to stop in the studio.

Summer camps this year are offering a variety of different activites, such as painting techniques, claybuilding, and even creating mosaics. Please Refer to our camp page

Can I bring my own refreshments?

You may bring your own drinks and food although we do sell drinks and we always have complimentary coffee & biscotti to our guests.

Can I bring a pinata to my child's birthday party?

Unfortunately we do not allow pinata's in the studio, because things at Cafe' Kiln are breakable.

What happens if I do not put three coats of paint on my pottery?

If you do not apply three coats of paint to your piece you may not get the desired color you are looking for. One coat is somewhat transluscent, 2 coats is slightly opaque and 3 coats gives you full bright coverage. Make sure you look at the color chart when you are painting.

My son ate some paint, are all your paints and glazes safe?

YES!  The paints are all non-toxic and are safe for children to handle...although the taste is probably pretty bad.  We use food-safe & water-safe paints & glazes and we use only lead-free glaze too.

I am not very creative, how can you help me?

We have all sort of tools and tricks to get your creative juices flowing.  We also have a ton of samples and idea books to copy from.  Stamps, stencils and other tools are the tricks of the trade and we will show you how to use them!

I have got to get home to the babysitter, but I am not done...what should I do?

We will wrap up your piece to take home with you...just bring it back to finish at your convenience.

Will you call me when my piece is ready?

Unfortunately, due to the volume of pieces we are not able to call everyone when their items are done.  Just come in a week from the day you painted.  You are always welcome to call us to check on your masterpiece.

I will not be able to pick up my item next week, how long will you keep it for me?

We will keep your item on the pick-up shelf for 30 days.  After that 30 day period the piece becomes property of Café Kiln and we will keep it for display or donate it to charity.

What if something happens to my piece in the kiln?

Unfortunately, sometimes things happen in the kiln that are beyond our control. If your piece is damaged in our kiln, we will either fix it or allow you to paint the same piece again for free. We DO NOT give refunds, due to the fact that the paint, glazing, firing and the piece are not retrievable. Thank you for understanding.

How long does it take?

We normally guarantee your piece will be finished in one week.  Occassionally depending on the time of year we may need more time to complete your masterpiece. .  We will let you know what our schedule is when you check-out.  During holidays and high-volume times, rush fees will be an option to have your piece done a little quicker.

Why does is take a week?

After you paint your piece, it has to dry a full day.  Then we have to dip each piece in our clear glaze which takes another full day to dry.  Once the clear glaze is dry, we load pieces into one of our two kilns on-site.  Once in the kiln, the firing & cooling takes another day and a half.    Then, VOILA, you have your masterpiece!

If I do not sign up early for your special events, can I still come?

Yes, we prefer that you call ahead so that we know how to staff and to make sure we have the amount that we need, but if you just did not have time to call, feel free to come in anyway.
